I am my child's first teacher...oh crap!

This pregnancy is almost over. Looking back, I feel like I've been a total slacker the past 9 months with my oldest child, Jeremiah. He's a terrific learner but I haven't been teaching him much. We used to do things like color the American flag and talk about the stars and stripes. Or we'd practice holding a pencil while he struggled to trace a letter. My point is that we'd do constructive, learning things.

Now our routine is breakfast, play (which is a good thing), then a nap for Beka and me. Jeremiah faithfully watches Nick Jr during these 2 hours of nappy poo time. After nap, it's snack time, either more tv or playtime, I'd prep for dinner, eat dinner, bedtime routine, bed for the kids. Notice that there is NO constructive, learning time...anywhere in our routine now.

I'm positive that the reason for my slacking is my lack of energy due to this pregnancy (which will be completely obvious later today since I've been up since 2am so far). But I still feel like I've let Jeremiah down. I'm sure he doesn't feel that way...that kid LOVES Nick Jr!

And Beka, let's not even get into her early education. I remember with Jeremiah I'd be sure to read to him 20 minutes a day. Poor Beka maybe gets 5 or 10 from me right now. Thank God for Daddy, who will make up the difference.

Ugh, I don't even want to think about this next baby and the slippery education slope I'm on.

Hopefully things will turn around next year. No, not hopefully...
Things WILL turn around next year. They have to...Jeremiah will start Kindergarten.

4, 4, 4

It's a little known fact that my little sister, Karalee

and I are 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days apart in age.

And if I have this baby on the day the c-section is scheduled (November 30th), then the baby and my first born will be 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days apart.

Crazy!!!!
