Vaccination Update

Yesterday was Beka's doctor appointment. She had an ear infection...news to me. She must have just got it. Well, come to think of it, she did start coughing about an hour or two before her appointment. And on the way home, she started pulling at her ear. So, no shots for her. Those are scheduled for next week.

We did tell our doctor that we wanted to separate out the MMR shot. She told us that they don't do that.

-What?

-Well, we could do it but it would cost you a lot of money, the doctor said.

-Ok, how much money are we talking here?

-About $1,000!

-WHAT?!?

-We can't just get one missile of the vaccine, she said. We have to buy a lot of them, and you'd have to pay for it.

That just sounds wrong. Once I got home I called our insurance and explained it to the guy on the other end of the phone. It was late where he was, central time. So he's supposed to get some answers and call me back today.

Needless to say, we're still praying about it.

To be continued...

We had that come up a lot too. It is possible, there are doctors who do it, most don't want to because it is not cost effective for them. Interesting how cost effectiveness seems to drive a lot of doctors' decisions about vaccinations, isn't it?
